The Arts Excite C.I.C Presents
Slough Culture Revival Fund: Taster workshops in Photography for young people.
Inspire Creativity. Build Confidence. Capture the World.
The Arts Excite C.I.C is proud to deliver an exciting photography project for young people across Slough as part of the Slough Cultural Revival Fund. This initiative is designed to introduce students to the art of photography through hands-on, engaging workshops that develop both technical skills and creative expression.
About the Project
This project offers students in secondary schools across Slough the chance to explore photography in a fun, supportive, and educational environment. Through free taster sessions held during lunch breaks or after school, students can get a feel for what it's like to be behind the lens—whether using smartphones or digital cameras.
The sessions are run by experienced photography facilitators and include:
Basic camera techniques
Creative storytelling through images
Composition and lighting
Inspiring photo challenges
Real-world photography examples
Students who enjoy the taster session will be invited to join a regular after-school photography club, where they can further develop their skills and work towards showcasing their best work in a community exhibition later in the year.
How It Works for Schools
We’re currently inviting Slough secondary schools to host an assembly presentation, where our team will introduce the project and invite students to sign up for the free taster session.
Assembly presentation: 5–10 minutes
Taster workshop: Lunchtime or after-school (flexible)
After-school club: Weekly sessions for selected students
All sessions are free to schools and students
All facilitators are DBS-checked and fully insured
Our aim is to complement your school’s enrichment offering and give students an outlet for creativity and self-expression outside of the classroom.
Why Photography?
Photography is more than just taking pictures—it helps young people:
Develop confidence and creativity
Improve focus and attention to detail
Build visual literacy and storytelling skills
Gain a greater appreciation of their local environment and community
Get Involved
Please note we are only able to offer this to 8 secondary schools in Slough and this will be done on a first come first serve basis so we would encourage you to make contact so we can book you in as soon as possible to avoid disappointment as we would love to bring this opportunity to your students.
To arrange an assembly visit and taster workshop please contact us on the form below or email info@thearts-excite.org . Let’s work together to empower the next generation of visual storytellers in Slough.
